Major International Regattas in Sanremo
Sanremo will combine sea and elegance with the second edition of the Great International Regattas “CIM Classic Yacht Trophy” , which will take place from Thursday 21 to Saturday 23 May 2026. With this event, organized by the prestigious Yacht Club Sanremo , the City of Flowers will host a re-enactment of vintage sailing between adrenaline-filled competitions, maritime culture and local gastronomy.
It will be like taking a dive into the past, admiring exquisite wooden hulls and majestic sails , in an atmosphere that will revive the noble spirit of gentleman yachting . It will be a three-day event focused on classic sailing , during which high-profile sport , gastronomy , and conviviality will intertwine in one of the most fascinating settings in the entire Mediterranean.
An exceptional fleet is expected, consisting of numerous historic vessels , divided into the following groups: Large Boat, Vintage Yacht, Classic Yacht, Classic IOR, Open (ORC certified), and Sangermani, based on their characteristics, size, and year of launch. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each class, as well as to the winner of the special "Sailing & Flavors" classification.
More than just regattas! Demonstrating that sailing is more than just a high-level competitive sport, but also a concrete example of socializing and mutual respect, crews will enjoy a welcome cocktail on Wednesday the 20th . It will be a convivial moment, a chance to share human and sporting experiences, and entertainment ashore. The grand finale will be on Saturday evening with the official dinner reserved for participants, featuring live music, followed by the awards ceremony and fireworks display.
One of the Yacht Club Sanremo's iconic events, Vela & Sapori , will also return as an integral part of the event. On Friday, May 22nd, the crews will compete for a prize, led by a panel of food and wine experts, journalists, and food bloggers, led by Claudio Porchia, President of the Tavolozza Restaurants Association . This will be followed by a cooking show featuring chefs from Sanremo's most exclusive restaurants.
The Major International Regattas will also celebrate our region. The Sanremo Yacht Club will organize the event in collaboration with the Circolo Velico Capo Verde, the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), the International Committee for the Mediterranean (CIM), and the Italian Vintage Sailing Association (AIVE) . This demonstrates that classic sailing can also be an effective tool for promoting this corner of Liguria. Finally, the three-day event will celebrate the 130th anniversary of the founding of the Sangermani shipyard in Lavagna .
